Money for new clothes for works department employees

The region is set to spend thousands of dollars on outfitting workers in the works department.

According to a report presented at the latest meeting of the region’s works committee, Durham has entered a three-year agreement worth more than $220,000 to provide new or replacement clothing for the department’s 600 full-time employees.

This equates to approximately $360 per employee.

The various groups inside the works department, such as maintenance, traffic operations and construction, are required under legal regulations to have specific clothes for their job.

Under the new contract with Imagewear, the region has the option to extend the contract for up to two years on an annual basis.
