Man shot, later found with a gun of his own
Police have arrested two men after one of them, having suffered a gunshot wound days before, was found with a modified starter’s pistol
Police were called to a residence on Ritson Road South on Saturday, Nov. 21, to assist an ambulance, having received reports that a man had suffered gunshot wounds a couple of days prior and he may now be armed.
When officers arrived at the scene, they spotted the male suspect leaving in a taxi in the company of another male. Police were able to stop the taxi. The two males were arrested after a search turned up a switchblade, a pair of nunchucks and a starter’s pistol that had been modified to fire a bullet.
A 22-year-old male of Avenue Street and a 20-year-old male of Ritson Road South have both been charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession knowing that it is unauthorized, possession of a prohibited weapon with ammunition, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle and unauthorized possession of a prohibited device.
The 20-year-old male also faces charges of possession of a firearm contrary to a court order and failure to comply with a recognizance. Police say he had four outstanding arrest warrants.
