Man charged with luring a minor

A Bowmanville man is facing several charges after making arrangements to meet an underaged female in Oshawa for a sexual encounter.

On Tuesday, Feb. 2, members of Durham police’s Internet Child Exploitation unit arrested a man in the parking lot of an Oshawa coffee shop. Police say the suspect was there after having made arrangements online to meet a female whom he believed to be 15 years old for sexual purposes.

A 51-year-old male of Burk Court in Bowmanville has been charged with luring a child to facilitate sexual interference, luring a child to make child pornography and exposing genitals to a person under the age of 16.

Police want to ensure there are no other victims.
