Man charged in father’s murder

The holiday weekend turned bloody when Durham Region Police were called to a residence on Carnaby Crescent in Oshawa for an altercation between two males.

76-year-old Walter Sollows was found inside the home with no vital signs, and serious stab wounds. He was rushed to Lakeridge Health, but was later pronounced dead.

His son, 53-year-old Clyde Sollows was also at the scene and has been charged with first degree murder in the death of his father and has been held for a bail hearing.

Members of the Forensic Indentification Unit remain at the home collecting evidence.

This is the second homicide investigation by the DRPS in 2015.
