Man attacks dog, drivers car into house

An Oshawa man is facing several charges after an early morning series of incidents that ended with a car being driven into a house.

Police were called to Mary Street North at approximately 3 a.m. on Friday, April 8 for a collision. According to police, a southbound sedan had gone off the road, hit a parked car and collided with a house. The house’s covered porch at the front of the house had collapsed on the car.

Witnesses saw a shirtless male flee the vehicle with a dog. Patrol officers went to the sedan’s owner’s registered address, finding the male and the dog as they pulled up to the house. He was arrested and taken to Central East Division for breath tests.

Following their investigation, police say the man was involved in a disturbance just prior to the collision. According to police, a male suspect was at a residence on Hortop Street and become angry with a different dog, throwing a chair at it and hitting it with a ladder before being confronted by the resident. Police say the suspect assaulted the resident and damaged property in the house and a parked car before driving away with his own dog.

A 25-year-old male of Celina Street has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, exceeding 80mg of alcohol in 100mL of blood, fail to remain, assault, cruelty to animals and mischief under $5,000.
