Man attacked with a hammer in Port Perry

A 47-year-old Oshawa man is facing charges after attacking someone with a hammer in Port Perry.

On June 18, at approximately 1:15 p.m., members of Durham Police’s North Division responded to a parking lot on Scugog Street near Carnegie Street in Port Perry for an assault call. The victim was operating a motorcycle in the lot when police say he was attacked by the suspect and struck in the head with a hammer. The victim was able to defend himself and the suspect fled the scene on foot. The victim sustained minor injuries.

The 47-year-old of Windsor Street in Oshawa is charged with assault with a weapon and possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was held for a bail hearing.
