Man arrested for approaching teens for prostitution
An Oshawa man is facing several charges after police say he approached several teenagers, asking them to work as prostitutes or to sell drugs.
Durham police’s Human Trafficking Unit began its investigation on Oct 7 after receiving numerous complaints about a male approaching teenaged females in the area of Harmony Road North and Taunton Road. Along with his attempts to recruit the teenagers to work as prostitutes or to sell drugs, police say the male sold drugs at a nearby school and had threatened a youth.
The man was arrested without incident on Oct. 14.
A 20-year-old male of Fetchison Drive has been charged with attempt to procure a person under 18, offering sexual services for consideration near a school, uttering threats and trafficking in a controlled substance.
