Peacefully at Extendicare Oshawa on Saturday, March 5th, 2016. Betty in her 94th year. Beloved wife for 65 years of the late John Kitchen. Loving mother of Ron and his wife, Melanie of Oshawa and Patricia of London. Devoted grandmother to Melissa, Veronica (Matthew), Stephen, John (Brianne) and Lenore. Dear great-grandmother of Owen and William. Dearly missed by sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Alf Schubert, brother and sister-in-law Norm and Betty Smith and sister-in-law Phyllis Kitchen and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother Charles Smith and his wife Pauline, and sister Patricia Stringer. Predeceased by brothers-in-law Edward Kitchen (Florence), Stan Kitchen (Arletta), Fred Kitchen (Audrey), Victor Kitchen and Gordon Kitchen, and sister-in-law Margaret Long (Gord). Life member and Church Secretary of St. George’s Memorial Anglican Church, over 50 year member of Oshawa Curling Club, 52 year cottager at Metheun Lake, knitter and baker extraordinaire. Relatives and friends are welcomed at McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME, 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558) on Thursday, March 10th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Service will be held on Friday, March 11th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at ST. GEORGE’S MEMORIAL ANGLICAN CHURCH, 51 Centre St. S. (at Bagot St.), Oshawa. Interment Thornton Cemetery. Donations in memory of Betty to St. George’s Anglican Church would be appreciated.
