A preliminary hearing has been set for an Oshawa man charged in connection with the dismembering of Oshawa teen Rori Hache.
On Monday, Aug. 27, a judge set aside Oct. 15 to Oct. 19 for the preliminary hearing for Adam Strong, 45.
Strong was arrested and charged after the partial remains of Rori Hache, 18, were found in his McMillan Drive apartment in late-December.
He faces a charge of improper and indecent interference with a dead body.
Hache was reported missing on Aug. 29, 2017. Her torso was found in Lake Ontario two weeks later.
On Dec. 29 of last year, police were called to Strong’s apartment and found more of Hache’s remains.
He was charged the next day. No murder charge has been laid as of yet, something Hache’s mother Shanan Dionne called “the worst feeling in the world.”
“You feel almost like Rori is being minimized, that’s how I feel,” she said in July. “But I believe in my detective, Rori’s detectives, that they’re taking their time for a reason…I just understand the protocol that comes with it.”
Strong has made several court appearances throughout the year, at times joking and laughing while appearing via video. He is currently represented by ???
Earlier this summer, Durham Regional Police announced they had discovered a second set of DNA at Strong’s former apartment.
During a July 10 press conference, police strongly implied the DNA belongs to Kandis Fitzpatrick, who was 18 years old when last seen in 2008. Using missing persons reports and the DNA of Fitzpatrick’s family, the DRPS were able to more or less confirm the DNA belongs to Fitzpatrick.
Despite Det. Darren Short of DRPS making the strong connection in July, the DNA is still under testing at the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto.
