Gens in playoff trouble after opening losses

Many Oshawa Generals got their first taste of OHL playoff action over the weekend and it’s an experience many of them will want to improve on.
After two games in Kingston, the Gens are down two games to none in the best-of-seven series.
The Frontenacs seemed intent on shucking the playoff curse that has kept them winless in a playoff round for the past 18 seasons, opening the series with a 6-0 win in Game 1 over Oshawa on March 25.
Roland McKeown had a pair of goals in the win, with Warren Foegele Spencer Wateson, Lawson Crouse and Jared Steege all adding singles. Frontenacs netminder Jeremy Helvig earned the shutout.
Kingston followed up that performance with another 7-3 thrashing on March 26.
Former Generals captain Michael Dal Colle started the scoring less than 30 seconds into the opening period. Foegele would add a hatrick, along with goals from Watson, Crouse, and McKeown.
In both match ups, starting goaltender Jeremy Brodeur was pulled and replaced by veteran Justin Nichols.
Rookie Domenic Commisso picked up his first two OHL playoff goals in Game 2, while Joe Manchurek added the third Oshawa goal.
Playoff hockey returns to the General Motors Centre this week with Games 3 set for Tuesday, March 29 (the result of which was not available as of The Oshawa Express deadline) and Thursday, March 31. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m.
