Generals sign Swiss import Eggenberger
The Oshawa Generals have officially signed Nando Eggenberger, the Swiss forward picked up in this year’s CHL Import Draft.
Announced on July 19, the Gens inked a standard OHL player agreement with Eggenberger, who now has plans to arrive in Oshawa later this summer to join the team for training camp starting on Aug. 27.
“We are really excited about having Nando commit to our hockey club for next season,” said vice-president and general manager Roger Hunt on the signing. “He had a down year last season for his standards, but he will have a ton to prove to us and the NHL scouts next season.”
The Chur, Switzerland native played in the NLA in Switzerland last season with HC Davos. The 6’2, 185 lbs left-handed forward has represented Switzerland numerous times in international play, appearing twice in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament (now the Hlinka Gretzky Cup), suited up at the World U18 Championships on two occasions and most recently played in two World Junior Championships, captaining the team at the 2018 tournament in Buffalo, NY.
Eggenberger will join fellow Swiss player Nico Gross on the Gens roster, a player who he is familiar with as international teammates.
