Gas station robbed

Police are searching for a suspect after a gas station was robbed last week.

At approximately 9:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, a male suspect robbed the Global Gas station at Wilson Road North and Taunton Road East. Police say that while the employee was accessing the cash drawer, the suspect hit him from behind and took the cash.

A brief struggle took place between the employee and the suspect. While the employee was able to retrieve some of the money, the suspect was able to flee. He was last seen headed north from the station.

Police say there was no weapon seen or mentioned, and that the employee was not physically injured.

Air1, the Durham police helicopter, and a K-9 unit were sent to the area to search for the suspect, but could not locate him.

The suspect is described as white, between 25 and 35 years old, six feet and one inch tall and a thin build. He was last seen with a shaved head and wearing a black hooded sweater, black pants and a black bandana.

Anyone with information on this investigation is asked to call Det. Const. Airey at 1-88-579-1520, ext. 5365.
