Scientists from across the globe come to UOIT to talk hydrogen

Hydrogen conference

Hydrogen is seen by many as a potential fuel source in the future, and experts in its production were in Oshawa last month to look at its future uses.

The University of Ontario Institute of Technology hosted the sixth-annual International Conference on Hydrogen Production in early May, hosting experts and scholars from universities and other institutions all over the world.

“The applications of hydrogen are many and big money is at stake as we work toward the shared goal of a global hydrogen economy,” states Dr. Ibrahim Dincer, the conference chair and director of the Clean Energy Research Laboratory at UOIT, in a news release. “The world is seeking clean, innovative and environmentally sustainable methods for hydrogen production. New technologies are exploring new thermochemical, photochemical and photoelectrochemical and biological processes. We are on the verge of a point where these ideas can be implemented and commercialized.”

The conference features keynotes from researchers from Canada, the U.S., Austria and Germany.
