Driver flees scene of accident
Durham police are seeking to identify a driver they say fled the scene of a collision.
At approximately 5:20 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 11, officers responded to a call in the area of Simcoe Street North south of Taunton Road. According to police, a silver Chevrolet pickup truck heading north on Simcoe was slowing down to turn into a Tim Hortons parking lot when it was hit from behind by another vehicle. Witnesses on scene told police that suspect vehicle was driving quickly when it hit the truck, then sped away from the crash.
The pickup’s driver did not report any injuries, although the truck sustained $3,000 worth of damage.
The suspect vehicle is a grey or silver Pontiac Grand Am that will have damage to its front end on the passenger side.
