Climbing for epilepsy

Climbing the CN Tower’s stairs is a common way to raise money for charity, and Epilepsy Durham is taking its turn to do just that.

On Saturday, April 13th, Epilepsy Durham Region CEO Dianne McKenzie and youth ambassador Logan Bloschinsky, will attempt to climb all 1776 steps of the CN Tower.

McKenzie says she’s pushed her limits before, “I’ve climbed the Grand Canyon in an effort to raise awareness and funds for critical services and programming, taking on the CN Tower is helping us to get one step closer to preserving local core programming in Durham Region.”

“Without access to United Way nor government funding, we need to investigate every opportunity to ensure our voice is heard and funds are available,” she explains.

In November 2018 Epilepsy Durham Region launched the first epilepsy clinic in Durham, in the first month of operation the local charity witnessed a 200% increase in requests for service.

“A 200% increase in growth will impact any business, in particular an agency of two staff and volunteers,” says McKenzie.

McKenzie and Bloschinsky’s goal is to raise $10,000.
