Cirelli gets tentative AHL deal

While the Gens’ season may be over, captain Anthony Cirelli will be getting a bit more ice time.

The Woodbridge native signed a tryout deal with Syracuse Crunch, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning, which drafted Cirelli in the third round of last year’s NHL draft.

Tryout deals, which see amateur players take part in a set number of games, are generally used by teams during the post-season to bring up fresh talent.

It’s unclear how many games Cirelli will play for the Crunch.
