China doesn’t deserve foreign aid
Dear Editor,
Andrew Scheer recently mentioned during his campaign that he, if elected, would cut our foreign aid budget by 25 per cent.
He went on to say that we should not be giving foreign aid to countries that are not hard pressed, like Italy, Argentina, and China.
The same day, China marked 70 years as a communist country, and the celebrations went on for many hours, including showcasing all their high tech military weapons that would make ours pale in comparison.
I thought then, why indeed are we giving this huge mighty communist country, that still imprisons two of our citizens illegally for almost a year now, and has leveled many improper trade sanctions against us this year when they have the funds to build up a huge military that they love to show off to the world in their parades?
With all the problems in our own country many of our citizens face on a daily basis, such as high rents and being forced to use food banks to survive, why did we ever decide to send our tax dollars to places like China?
It seems we need it much more than they do, and our citizens earned it, then gave it to a government in the form of taxes, to give away to places that do not deserve it. That is insane behavior.
Scheer is absolutely correct to cut this by at least 25 per cent.
