Child injured after gunshots
For the second time this month, gun shots fired off in the city have resulted in injuries – this time, however, one of the victims was a child.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. on April 21, Durham police responded to an apartment building on Colborne Street West for a call about an armed person. According to police, a 23-year-old male was outside the apartment when he was shot in the abdomen by an unknown suspect. A stray bullet went into an apartment, hitting a seven-year-old boy on the upper leg.
The adult victim went to hospital before paramedics arrived and was treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The boy was taken to hospital for minor injuries.
Police say they do not believe this was a random incident.
The suspect is described as a black male wearing a grey sweatshirt and black jeans.
