The city has made several changes to its annual Christmas tree collection program, with residents pre-registering with the city.

Oshawa residents have until Jan. 6 to register in order to receive curbside collection.

In a news release, the city says tree collection may not coincide with your waste collection day. Tree pickup will occur at any point during the week of Jan. 11.

Trees are to be put on the curb no later than Jan. 11 at 7 a.m.

A majority of collected trees will be composted by the region, although some will also be used in a project alongside the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry to create an artificial fish habitat at McLaughlin Bay.

To register for tree pickup or to get more details on tree collection, please call Service Oshawa during regular business hours, or visit oshawa.ca.
