Be fire safe this summer

Firefighters will be visiting homes across the city this summer for voluntary fire safety education sessions.
Oshawa Fire Services will be hitting the streets this summer to ensure residents know what they need to know about fire safety.
Starting this month, firefighters will visit the city’s neighbourhoods for its annual Alarmed for Life campaign, which includes door-to-door visits for voluntary educational sessions. Those who take part in the program will receive a booklet with information and tips on smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, fire extinguishers, home escape planning and emergency preparedness.
“Fire safety is something that everyone should be aware of in order to protect our family and friends,” states Councillor Bob Chapman, chair of the community services committee, in a news release.
“Our fire services are continuing the Alarmed for Life program to inform our community of how to best protect themselves. If you have any fire safety questions please contact Oshawa Fire Services as they have the answers.”
The program, which lasts until October, typically sees firefighters visit approximately 9,000 homes.
