BALOGH, Louis

BALOGH, Louis

With profound sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Louis Balogh in his 73rd year, his loving wife and daughters by his side, on Wednesday, July 19th, 2017.

Beloved partner of almost 49 years to his wife Barbara. Devoted father to his daughters Stephanie and Jennifer.  Predeceased by his parents (Barbara and Louis Sr.) and sister Barbara.

Louis was a proud member of the Motor City Car Club for over 50 years and a retiree of OPG (formerly Ontario Hydro), having worked at the Bruce-Grey, Pickering and Darlington Nuclear Generating Stations. Louis grew up in Oshawa, attending both O’Neil C.V.I. and R.S. McLaughlin C.V.I. after emigrating to Canada, from Hungary with his family.

Louis will be fondly remembered for his work ethic, loyalty, sense of humour and his way with words.  He will be missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, Motor City Car Club “brothers”, former OPG colleagues, fellow collectors, and many friends and loved ones.

A Celebration of Louis’ Life will be held on Saturday, August 19th from 1-4pm at General Sikorski Banquet Venue on Taunton Road in Oshawa.  We are looking forward to an afternoon of great stories, laughter and memories, in Lou’s honour.

The family would like to thank the nursing and medical staff of the 6th floor at LHO- Oncology/Nephrology Unit.   In lieu of flowers, please consider donating, in Louis’ name, to the Canadian Cancer Society or Lakeridge Health, Oshawa.  Donations may be made through McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King Street East, Oshawa (905-433-5558).  Online condolences may be shared at makfuneralhome.com.

Finally, in the words of the immortal Leonard Cohen:

So come, my friends, be not afraid

We are so lightly here

It is in love that we are made

In love we disappear.
