Baby found in car during drug bust
A young child was found in a car during a drug arrest.
At approximately 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18, police were conducting a drug investigation when they observed two people in a parked vehicle in the Pentland Street and Nonquon Road area conduct a drug transaction. According to police, officers approached the car to place the occupants under arrest when they saw that there was a baby in the back seat.
The baby has since been turned over to a family member, and the Children’s Aid Society has been notified.
When police searched the vehicle, they seized fenatanyl – the amount found has a street value of $1,786, according to police – as well as cash. A search of a home in the Harmony Road and Beatrice Street area also turned up drug paraphernalia, which was also seized.
A 34-year-old male and a 27-year-old female, both of Oshawa, have been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in connection with this incident.
