Ask about KI pills

Residents curious about the distribution of potassium iodide (KI) pills will have an opportunity to ask some questions later this month.

The two sessions – Oct. 21 at the Clarington Beech Centre and Oct. 22 at the Pickering Nuclear Information Centre – are open to the public and will have experts on hand from the region’s health department.

“We realize that residents may have questions about the recent distribution of KI pills in the areas around the Darlington and Pickering Nuclear Generating Stations,” states Ken Gorman, the director of environmental health for the region’s health department, in a news release. “As a result, two community information sessions have been scheduled to allow residents to meet with staff from both Durham Region and Ontario Power Generation to discuss any concerns.”

Both sessions are set to run form 5 to 9 p.m.
