An ode to MP Kevin Lamoureux
Dear Editor,
While reading the Oshawa Express, I came across a thought provoking article regarding the Conservative plan for income splitting by Liberal MP Kevin Lamoureux. He wrote about how the Liberal Party would provide “generous support” to the middle class while the Conservatives take a “cookie cutter approach to everyone.”
The Globe and Mail recently reported that among industrialized nations, Canada has the wealthiest middle class. It wouldn’t be unreasonable to assume that the steady governance of the Conservative government in the past decade played a role.
But when I dug a bit deeper, Mr Lamoureux also posted an identical article in The Barrie Examiner attacking MP Patrick Brown and in The News out of New Glasgow attacking MP Peter MacKay. Talk about cookie cutter approach!
I more than welcome Mr Lamoureux, MP in Winnipeg North, to comment on policy affecting Oshawa and its citizens once he becomes familiar with our town and its issues, regardless of the lack of creativity in his approach. However, given that it is an election year and the good people of Winnipeg North will be choosing their next MP, perhaps he should focus on his own riding, where in the last election, he barely won by 44 votes.
