An upcoming event will support 6,500 individuals in Durham Region living with epilepsy.

On Sunday, Oct. 21, Epilepsy Durham Region will host its annual Purple Walk for Epilepsy at Deer Creek Golf and Banquet Facility in Ajax.

Registration for the event begins at 10 a.m., with the walk starting at 10:30 a.m.

A community BBQ will follow at 11:30 a.m.

This year’s walk will feature a route along a nature path of one of Deer Creek’s nine holes of golf.

“The Purple Walk acknowledges the need for support, whether you are supporting someone affected by this disease, remembering someone who has passed away or simply raising awareness, we want to make this an event that the whole community is welcome to participate in,” says Epilepsy Durham CEO Dianne McKenzie.

Participants are asked to pre-register for the event by emailing clientservices@epilepsydurham.com or contacting Chelsea Kerstens at 905-430-3090.

Donations can be made online and participants should call the organization at 905-430-3090 to set up a personal donation page.

All donation cheques must be payable to Epilepsy Durham Region.

Pledges can be submitted up to and including the day of the event.

All participants who collect $150 or more in pledges will receive a t-shirt.
