Wrong focus for speeding controls
Dear Editor,
Why is Somerville Street between Rossland Road and Taunton Road getting so much attention for speed control?
First they put in the islands which proved worthless and cost the taxpayers money to install them in and take them out, then the four-way stop signs were installed which should have been done in the first place.
Now I see the speed limit has been reduced to 40 km/h and they have electronic speed indicators.
Now, I believe all residential streets should be 40 km/h, but my point is we have a public school at the corner of Rossland and Simcoe and the speed limit is 50 km/h.
This corner has two-lane traffic going north and south and also east and west and four bus stops.
In my opinion, this is where the speed limit and electronic speed indicators should be, maybe the new Mayor and councilors will see it my way.
