Who are you working for?

We need Chair Roger Anderson and Regional Councilor Nester Pidwerbecki to remember you work for us, the taxpayers.
How Chair Anderson could say with a straight face that he expressed disbelief that some members of council and the public feel the region has not been clear as possible in relaying information regarding the incinerator shocks me!
Yes, us residents feel that way because that is how you run the council. You have a closed-door meeting and surprise, the incinerator has been approved for operation. Are those council minutes posted on the website?
You also try to restrict delegates to the five minutes allowed and when they ask for two minutes extra, it’s a no.
The delegates are speaking for the public. They know what they are talking about. They have spent years of their lives researching and educating themselves about the effects of incineration. They know more about the toxins that have been spewing into our soil, air and water than you do. They should have 10 minutes, not be muted. You need to listen.
Also I know most of the councilors just wanted to get to their summer break and rushed everything to get out the door after that last regional council meeting.
We have some dedicated, honest councilors who try to fight for the residents, but they get voted against. Let’s hope we can get more councilors to understand what is happening with incineration and the toxins.
Councillor Pidwerbecki, chair of the region’s work committee, states the region is bending over backwards to be clear about everything. Do you listen to the delegates? I don’t think so – you try to talk over them, control what they say. He states the region is doing more than the public needs! Are you giving us any answers? Are you listening to the information? Aren’t you concerned? You can never give us more than we need. We don’t want any more promises – we want answers. Are you forgetting you work for the public? It is your job to be open and listen and do the right things.
The next election can’t come fast enough for us. You have proven you don’t understand you work for us.
