Turfdogs in the hunt for first Creator’s Cup
A tough 12-11 loss to the Barrie Blizzard on March 6 may have been a sad way to end the Durham Turfdogs Canadian Lacrosse League (CLAX) regular season. However, a pair of previous victories had already clinched the team a spot in the playoffs.
The back and forth game needed overtime and with only 30 seconds left in the frame, the Blizzard would put in the sudden death marker to seal the victory.
Despite the loss, the Turfdogs still retain the benefit of a home playoff game in the postseason as the Blizzard needed to win by more than four goals to steal the home advantage.
Success in the post season would mean Durham’s first Creator’s Cup in franchise history.
The Turfdogs will play host to the Barrie club again on March 10, this time on their home turf at the General Motors Centre. The game is set to get underway at 8 p.m.
