Trafficking investigation nets heroin
A three-month long drug trafficking investigation has resulted in a trio facing charges, as well as heroin believed to be laced with fentanyl taken off the street.
Project Explorer, which focused on the trafficking of fentanyl-laced heroin, culminated in an undercover drug buy on Oct. 7. After undercover officers made the purchase in a plaza parking lot in Oshawa, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit boxed in the suspect vehicle. The suspect attempted to flee, but was captured after causing damage to his vehicle and four cruisers.
A search warrant was also executed in Halton Region, with police seizing heroin and cash. Laboratory tests are being done to confirm the drug is laced with fentanyl.
