The good people of Oshawa
Dear Editor,
In the midst of all the bad news one hears about today, it is refreshing to know there are good, honest people around also.
On April 22, a lady driver and her husband were driving on Highway 2 in Oshawa when her husband noticed a wallet on the intersection with Eastlawn. It was my wallet, with all of my cards, personal information, money and gift certificates.
This lady, Deb from Port Perry, called me to say she had found my wallet and we made arrangements to meet. My son drove me there and when he offered a reward, she adamantly refused it.
My son then advised her to give it to a needy person. She then replied she would give it to the Cancer Society, which she was involved with. I lost my wallet at 8:30 a.m. and it was not found until 6 p.m. – what are the odds of that happening? The odds are a lot of prayer, an honest caring couple and lesson learned by me to be more careful.
I might add, I am a senior and on a very limited income and this would have been a great loss to me – so take heed, all you readers, there really are some good honest people out there, and I thank God for them!
A grateful resident
