Students getting ready for the big test

With winter weather making its (hopefully brief) return to Oshawa, many in the city are daydreaming about the return of warmer weather, and might even be getting ready to make those Victoria Day long weekend plans.

Also getting ready for that time of May are the students of Mary Street Community School, although they have much more academic goals in mind.

May 25 will mark the beginning of EQAO testing for Grade 3 and Grade 6 students throughout the province. While the idea of standardized testing may be daunting to some, the students at Mary Street Community School will be prepared, thanks to its Lunch and Learn program.

Thanks to community sponsors, the school doesn’t have to worry about buying the pizza for the successful lunch program, meaning that that money can go back into the school and help those children succeed.

Principal Kasia Janowski and her staff have been working hard to ensure the students excel at their upcoming tests, and put them on the right foot for the next step in their academic careers.
