Snapchat snaps lead to snappy arrest for two Oshawa men
Police say two males were arrested after showing off some stolen property on Snapchat.
Durham police were called to a residence in the area of Ritson Road North and Hillcroft Drive on Saturday, July 16 for a break and enter. The victim reported that a detached garage had been accessed, with several items, such as a guitar and a BB gun, being stolen.
A witness later reported to police that they had seen a conversation on Snapchat – the mobile application that allows users to share images and videos for short periods of time – featuring two males posing with items they were trying to sell.
A search warrant was executed at a Wynchwood Street residence on Wednesday, July 20, resulting in two male suspects being arrested and stolen property, as well as cannabis, being seized.
A 21-year-old male of Wynchwood Street has been charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property and possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
A 21-year-old male of Galahad Drive in Oshawa has been charged with break and enter and possession of stolen property.
