Shots fired at student residence
The Durham Region Police are investigating after reports of gunshots being fired at a student residence in Oshawa’s north end.
On Saturday, June 3, 2017, at approximately 10:15 p.m., police were called to a student residence on Simcoe Street North, between Taunton Road and Conlin Road East. The building is located southeast of the UOIT/Durham College campus. Witnesses reported two vehicles fled the scene, one northbound and one southbound, as well as two others who fled southbound on foot.
A vehicle was stopped during the course of the investigation and a quantity of marihuana and cash was located with a street value of approximately $7,800. The driver was subsequently arrested.
A 20-year-old male from Toronto, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000. He was held for a bail hearing.
The investigation into the shots fired is still ongoing and police are appealing to witnesses to come forward. No injuries have been reported.
