Serious injuries after assault

An Oshawa teen is being treated for serious head injuries after being assaulted.

Just after midnight on Saturday, April 16, police responded to an apartment building in the area of Simcoe Street North and Beatrice Street for an assault. According to police, a 17-year-old male was in a second-floor apartment with two acquaintances when a verbal argument turned physical. The victim was punched in the head before being dragged to a stairwell by two suspects where he was kicked in the head and body.

When paramedics arrived at the scene, the victim was kicked in the head again, this time forcing it to hit a wall.

The victim is currently in hospital and being treated for serious head injuries.

One suspect was arrested at the scene, while another fled.

A 20-year-old male of Beatrice Street in Oshawa has been charged with aggravated assault in connection with this incident.

Police have issued a warrant for Brenden Andrews, 18, in connection with this incident. Andrews is described as a white male, approximately five feet and 11 inches tall and weighs 126 pounds.
