School board reaches deal with educational workers

The Durham District School Board (DDSB) and the union representing educational workers have come to a tentative agreement following months of negotiations.

The result of five months of “hard work and cooperation” according to a news release, the tentative deal is set to go to a ratification vote by both the board and the union on June 14.

CUPE Local 218 represents 3,100 education workers in both DDSB and the Durham Catholic District School Board. Its membership is made up of custodial and maintenance workers, office, secretarial, clerical, technical and educational assistants.
