Rowers have strong showing in Guelph

The UOIT rowing team enjoyed positive results on Saturday at the Guelph Invitational, the crew’s second event of the season.

The men’s heavy double of James Jack and Braden Reid finished fourth in the A final, narrowly behind host Guelph.

The women’s coxed four of Rhiannon Dearman, Joanna Toonders, Michelle Jilesen, Moulica Doung and coxswain Hafsah Hoda finished first in the B final.

Nik Vantfoort was fourth in the men’s heavyweight final.

UOIT’s men coxed four of Bradley Semenick, Tyler Tompsett, Cole Kestaloot, Mike Juzkow and coxswain Rachel Goodman finished fourth in their race.

In the final event of the day, the men’s eight of Vantfoort, Reid, Jack, Semenick, Tompsett, Christian Langevin, Juzkow, Kestaloot and coxswain Amanda Hodgins finished fourth behind Toronto.

The crew’s next event is Sept. 24 in Welland at the Five Bridges Classic.
