Rotary club: A staple of the community
Rotary club drumming up corporate sponsors to help pay for much needed repairs

The Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood is working to ensure that the Kids’ Safety Village continues to offer valuable lessons on safety for children for decades to come.
The Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood is working to ensure that the Kids’ Safety Village, which has been teaching Durham’s youth how to be safe both inside and outside the home, is around for decades to come.
The village, which opened in 1995, has seen more than a quarter million children go through it, and recently announced repairs and new facilities will ensure future generations are afforded the same opportunity.
The Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood, along with the Optimist Club of Ajax, is drumming up corporate sponsors to help pay for these much needed repairs. Sponsors can sign on for 20-year leases at the village, which will come with their own children-sized building.
Organizations that have signed their names on the dotted line for the 20-year commitment include General Motors of Canada, Metrolinx and Durham Region Police Services.
Located at 1449 Athol St. in Whitby, you too can make a donation to the Kids’ Safety Village by visiting durhamsafetyvillage.com.
