Politicians continue to be all talk, hardly any action
Dear Editor,
Why is “Murphy’s Law” so prevalent when it comes to politicians involved with “protecting” their citizens?
It is almost like watching a rerun of a sitcom over and over and over again. They are so predictable in their response to situations that can affect all of us such as the latest health scare that has now invaded our shores here in Canada.
The first confirmed person who brought the virus home with him from Wuhan, China, where it all began, was allowed to go home from the airport, after telling the investigative team that he was not well, and was just getting off a flight of 300 or more passengers. Now they are attempting to reach all of those that may have had contact with him on that flight. That is like shutting the barn door after the horse has escaped. They could be anywhere now, spreading this virus as he may have on that flight.
On the gun violence situation that has grown in size to become almost a daily occurrence in many large centres, they almost always give lip service only to the situation. More gun control legislation to make life miserable for legal, responsible gun owners, but have no effect at all on the problem at hand.
Criminals don’t care about useless legislation, as they are criminals to begin with, and pay no mind to “rules” anyway, yet we get the same old tired “solutions” from most politicians that want to take our guns away from those of us that have them for legitimate reasons, including self protection.
I am beginning to think we may need some sort of protection from politicians in our daily lives, as the only thing they tend to agree upon is a pay raise for themselves, while nothing changes in reality as far as enriching our lives and making us any safer from various threats to us or our families.
