Peony Festival coming up

Peonry Festival

The 12th edition of Oshawa’s Peony Festival is set to get underway June 11.

Lovers of all things botanical will be flocking to the city next weekend for the 12th annual Peony Festival.

Set to take place June 11 and 12, the free event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Oshawa Valley Botanical Garden, right next to Children’s Arena at 155 Arena St.

“The Oshawa Valley Botanical Gardens is beautiful this time of year and our collection of over 300 varieties of peonies is simply amazing, but don’t just take my word, come out and see for yourself at our annual award-winning Peony Festival,” states Councillor Bob Chapman, chair of the community services committee, in a news release.

The festival will feature artisans, live music, Chinese cultural performances, gardening and culinary demonstrations, a bonsai show, an art competition, a photo contest and more.
