Oshawa Rotary reviving Friendship Day

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Parkwood Estate, the Rotary clubs of Oshawa and Oshawa-Parkwood have invited the Rotarians of Rotary International District 7070  (south central Ontario stretching from Toronto, north to Alliston and east to Belleville) and their guests to the “revived” Rotary Friendship Day.

Rotary Friendship Day in Oshawa is going to take place on Monday, Sept. 25 at Parkwood Estate, 270 Simcoe St. North, in Oshawa with fellowship starting at 11:30 am followed by a joint meeting of the two Rotary Clubs. The guest speaker at the noon luncheon will be Samantha George, Curator of Parkwood Estate,” says Ron Dick, President of the Rotary Club of Oshawa.

Tickets for the event are $75 for each Rotarian and a second ticket can be purchased for $60, with all proceeds going the Annual Programs Fund of The Rotary Foundation.

Ted Morrison, President of the Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood says, “The Rotary Foundation transforms donations into service projects that change lives both close to home and around the world. During the past 100 years, the Foundation has spent $3 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects, the most notable of which is the PolioPlus campaign, Rotary’s effort to eradicate of polio from the world.”

Rotarians from some of the 56 Rotary Clubs in southern Ontario will be in attendance when they register to attend with access via the Rotary District Calendar. Seating is limited to 120 Rotarians and guests.

“This is an opportunity for Rotarians and guests to see old friends, meet new friends, and share their ideas of Rotary service to others in their communities and throughout the world with their fellow Rotarians and to see Parkwood Estate, a national historic treasure, right here in Oshawa,” Morrison added.
