Oshawa City Hall gets a little more colourful

A mural designed by Allanah Larsen, a Durham College graduate, that won a public vote earlier this year has been installed on the retaining wall at city hall.
A winning design voted on by the city’s residents has now been installed at the seat of the city’s government.
A mural, designed by Allanah Larsen, a Durham College graduate, is now located on the retaining wall facing Centre Street, outside of city hall. Larsen produced the mural at the site, alongside fellow Durham College students Alex Duffy, Stephanie Galanis, Shawn Robinson Gray, Maria McGarny, Vincent S. F. Neal, Kristen Sali, Schott Shepel, and Kristie Yuill.
“In addition to adding colour and brightening up our Civic Square this mural tells a story about our City,” states Councillor Bob Chapman, chair of the community services committee, in a news release. “Drop by during Doors Open Oshawa and have a look for yourself”.
“This has been such a fabulous experience for the school,” adds Greg Murphy, the dean of Durham College’s School of Media, Art and Design.
“We need partners to give us an opportunity to make a contribution to the cultural landscape of Oshawa, and the city has been a great partner. I’m grateful for the effort and expertise that a lot of generous people gave, but especially for the wonderful leadership of this project from Dani Crosby and Sean McQuay.”
