One arrested, two wanted in home invasion

Durham police have arrested one suspect and are searching for two more after a home invasion.

According to police, three masked males entered a residence in the area of Olive Avenue and Simcoe Street South at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 14. The lone male resident was assaulted with a crow bar, hatchet and metal pipe before a neighbour intervened and was assaulted. The three suspects then fled the residence.

The victims have been treated in hospital for their injuries and have been released.

Police say they do not believe this was a random attack.

A 17-year-old male of Oshawa has been charged with robbery, possession of a dangerous weapon, disguise with intent and assault with a weapon in connection with this incident.

Police are also searching for two other male suspects.

The first suspect is described as a white male in his early 20s, approximately five feet and 11 inches tall with a medium build and has dark blonde hair and green eyes. He was last seen wearing a green and brown jacket and white pants.

The second suspect is described as a white male in his early 20s, approximately five feet and seven inches tall with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded shirt and blue jeans.
