Off-duty officer threatened
One driver is facing several charges after he blew through an intersection in front of an off-duty police officer and then threatened him after being stopped.
On Oct. 5, police responded to a neighbourhood in Brooklin for a threatening complaint.
An off-duty officer was stopped at a red light on Cachet Boulevard in the left-turn lane when he spotted a red pickup truck approach from the rear at a high rate of speed. The truck then used the right-turn lane to make a left-hand turn. The traffic light was still red and the pickup truck did not slow down before entering the intersection, forcing a westbound car to skid to a stop to avoid a collision.
The off-duty officer followed the driver to a golf course nearby and identified himself. The driver would not produce his licence and responded by threatening the officer.
DRPS officers arrived and the suspect fled on foot through the woods. A K-9 team tracked to a location on Covington Drive in Brooklin, but no arrest was made at the time.
The suspect was arrested at his residence on Oct. 6.
A 32-year-old male of Covington Drive in Brooklin is charged with dangerous driving, uttering threats and failure to comply with a probation order. He was held for a bail hearing.
