Non-residential construction down

The Oshawa area saw fewer dollars come in through non-residential construction at the end of 2015 than the year before, according to new numbers from Statistics Canada.

In the fourth quarter of 2015, the Oshawa census metropolitan area – which also includes Whitby and Clarington, brought in just under $107 million in non-residential construction, not seasonally adjusted. This is down from the fourth quarter of 2014, when the area saw just over $131.6 million.

There was an increase over the third quarter of 2015, when that number was $104.2 million.

The trend in the Oshawa area was seen across the country as well, with the unadjusted number dropping to $13.04 billion from $13.6 billion over the same time frame.
