Nationally-ranked Lords blanked by Cambrian
The No. 14 ranked Durham College men’s soccer team could not crack the combination of Cambrian’s defence on Sept. 25, being shut out 1-0 at Vaso’s Field.
Cambrian would capitalize on a miscue by Durham goalkeeper Mark Kamstra as he fouled a striker inside the box. The penalty kick was buried in the bottom left hand corner to give the Golden Shield the lead in the 63rd minute.
Durham had 16 shot attempts compared to just six by Cambrian. Golden Shield goalkeeper Evan Phillips made nine saves in the shutout victory.
Cambrian (3-1-1) moves one point ahead of Durham (3-2-0) for second place in the OCAA east region standings. The Lords next game comes against the Centennial Colts (1-4-0) on Sept. 29 at Vaso’s Field. Kickoff is at 8:15 p.m.
