MNP joins Autofest family

To some, MNP may just be a random collection of letters. To others, it may seem familiar, having seen it in the outfield at a Toronto Blue Jays game. But for many, it is an important part of doing business.

MNP, one of Canada’s leading accounting and business consulting firms, will now be known for those heading to Lakeview Park for this year’s edition of Autofest.

Michael Laing, the head of the company’s Oshawa offices, says MNP typically sponsors sports related event. This year, it wanted to do something different.

“Normally, I’m very involved with sports. I was a hockey player and I have owned and operated hockey teams for 30 years. This one was kind of interesting because it kind of came out of the blue,” he says. “There’s plenty good attendance at the Autofest, and it will be great for people to see us supporting something besides sports.”

Laing says he is also happy to be supporting Grandview Children’s Centre, the key benefactor of funds raised at the annual event.

“Out here, you need to be involved with the community, and not just with the Oshawa Generals like we are now. You need to be involved in more, and this was a nice fit for us.”
