Men’s soccer: Ridgebacks split weekend

The UOIT men’s soccer team will be looking to close the gap Wednesday against Toronto after splitting their weekend up north.

UOIT fell 1-0 to Laurentian on Sept. 18 after earning a 1-0 win the day before over Nipissing.

The lone goal of the match came in the second half off the foot of Liam Ezzard in the 62nd minute of play.

The Ridgebacks dominated play with 22 shots in the game, compared to Laurentian’s 12, but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities.

UOIT will next host the Toronto Varsity Blues on Sept. 21 at Vaso’s Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m.

The Ridgebacks currently hold the final playoff spot in the east with seven points, four back of fifth place Toronto and two up on the seventh place Trent Excalibur.
