Man arrested in Oshawa after collectible cars stolen from Scugog business

It was the wrong time to take catnap.

According to the Durham Regional Police a man has been arrested in connection the theft of a pair of collectible cars after he was found sleeping in a stolen tow-truck in Oshawa.

The two cars, a 2008 red Corvette and a 1969 black Ford Torino were stolen from Stevenson Specialty Cars in Port Perry on Aug. 2

On Aug. 6, members of Central East Division found the stolen tow truck parked in a lot by Cedar Street and Wentworth Street West in Oshawa. The suspect was found sleeping in the truck and was arrested by officers. The tow truck was towing a stolen Cadillac.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect was involved in the theft of the two stolen collectible vehicles. However, investigators are still looking to recover the two collectible cars.

A 47-year-old man of Balsam Lake Road in the City of Kawartha Lakes is charged with three counts of theft of a motor vehicle, four counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000, three counts of driving while disqualified and breaching probation. He was held for a bail hearing.
