Male stabbed, four pepper sprayed

A man is recovering in hospital in Toronto after being stabbed and pepper sprayed.

At approximately 6:10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, police responded to a basement apartment at a residence on Willowdale Avenue. According to police, two males and two females were in the living room when a male suspect forced his way in and hit them all with pepper spray.

One of the males, a 20-year-old visitor to the house, was stabbed in the back during the altercation. He was taken to local hospital before being transferred to a Toronto-area trauma centre to be treated for a minor stab wound.

The other three suffered eye irritation as a result of the pepper spray, but did not need medical attention.

Police say that none of the victims are cooperating with the investigation, adding that they do not believe this was a random occurrence.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s, and had fled the scene on foot.

Anyone with information on this investigation is asked to call Det. Const. Stuart at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 1634.
