Keep your feet where they belong

Dear Go Transit/Metrolinx,

A few weeks ago, I traveled on the Go Train from Oshawa to Union Station.

When I got on the train on the upper floor there was a young girl with her black boots up on the seat opposite her. I was going to say something to her, but didn’t want to make a scene. Across from her in the next seat was another woman. They were talking so I assumed it was her mother. Then they both put their feet up on the seats. I suppose this is where she learned this bad habit.

I see it all the time and there is just no respect for other people or Go Train property, which is ours.

I don’t really want to sit on a seat that may have someone’s gum on the seat from someone’s shoe.

In the UK, conductors will tell you to keep your feet down where they belong and we should do the same.

Signage may help, but probably not.

Please try some signage and get the conductors to tell riders. The next thing to do is to turn all the seats facing the same way so that putting your feet up can’t be done.

I know it’s hard to teach respect, but what has happened to respect for others property?

I’m just glad I don’t travel on the GO every day.

I see GO had a survey and this was an issue. So what are you doing about it?
